NEW STORE DELIVERS THE WORLD OF SEGA AS AN EXPERIENCE
July 18, 2025 – Today, SEGA STORE TOKYO, SEGA's first flagship store in Japan, has officially opened on the sixth floor of Shibuya PARCO.
Following the opening of SEGA STORE SHANGHAI in May 2025, SEGA STORE TOKYO serves as a hub for the company’s Transmedia strategy. The store also brings together SEGA's creativity and offers over 800 products (including licensed merchandise), which involves exclusive items.
Ahead of the grand opening, SEGA was hosting a pre-opening ceremony on Wednesday, July 16, featuring appearances by President and COO, Representative Director of SEGA CORPORATION, Shuji Utsumi. Executive Vice President, Executive Officer, Head of Global Transmedia Group of SEGA CORPORATION, Justin Scarpone and General Manager of Shibuya PARCO, PARCO CO., LTD. Yugo Hiramatsu, and Artist/Graphic Designer Kosuke Kawamura, who designed the SEGA STORE exclusive toy, also made an appearance to commemorate the opening of SEGA’s new hub.
“We aim to make SEGA STORE a new hub for delivering the diverse world of SEGA IPs as an experience to people around the world, sharing new surprises and excitement,” said President and COO, Representative Director of SEGA CORPORATION, Shuji Utsumi in the opening remarks.
SEGA positions its Transmedia strategy as a key initiative and established Transmedia Business Unit in April 2024. With a history spanning 65 years, SEGA is expanding its global presence by leveraging its rich IP portfolio across various media and products, not limited to games.
Beginning with this opening, SEGA is considering further expansion as we bring our Transmedia strategy into real-world experiences.
Sonic the Hedgehog x Kosuke Kawamura SEGA Store Exclusive Toy
SEGA’s iconic character, Sonic the Hedgehog, has been reinterpreted and designed by collage artist Kosuke Kawamura. This is a limited collection available exclusively at SEGA STORE, featuring designs that incorporate Kawamura's iconic shredder art and collage techniques.
